Description
***Monster Phantom Quartz*** ((( Giant Quartz Crystal ))) ~~ With Green Chlorite & Red Iron ~~ Corinto - Minas Gerias  "Brazil" 13.5" inches tall x 7 " x  5" inches wide 28.46 Lbs - 12910 Grams Quartz crystals from Corinto in Minas Gerais State Brazil are known for glassy crystals with fantastic interior veiling and this giant crystal is full of veils and foils as well as having a series of phenomenal lodolite phantoms in the termination.  This crystal has a lot going on, first of all the primary phantom face is comprised of layered lodolite which is a hodgepodge of various micro crystals.  There are roughly five or six dense layers of lodolite phantoms starting at the bottom going to the top of the termination face in more or less striped chevron patterns and the lodolite also has random spots of green chlorite mixed in.  The primary phantom face glows translucent but is not transparent so you can't see through it.  Starting behind the primary phantom face is another series of roughly two dozen or more phantom outlines going all the way to the other side which can be observed through the opposite faces which are glassy clear and provide a good view of the additional interior phantoms. Below the top phantom zone the crystal is absolutely loaded with spectacular hanging veils, misty cloudbursts and rainbow foils and is not at all milky but due to the intense veiling it's not totally transparent either but it does have water clear areas where you can see all the way through it. At the lower one third of the crystal there's a natural fracture line that meanders downward all the way around and ends up about one half inch above the bottom on the opposite side.  This line is a superficial surface fracture that doesn't go all the way through and the crystal is very sturdy and stable.  The fracture can be felt and is partially included with feldspar and red iron staining and one of the exterior faces has a large red spot with splotches just beneath the surface of the crystal as shown.  Below the fracture line the quartz changes color into a silvery gray to slightly reddish brown depending on the lighting, probably due to iron and lithium and every side of the crystal has a different look.  The fracture line looks a lot like a bolt of lighning in places and there's a whole other zone of most excellent phantoms at the bottom, very cool.         Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool.
