Tourmaline & Rutile - Brazil* Start Price USD 1,599.00 Current Price USD 1,599.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Monday, October 27, 2008 End Time Wednesday, November 26, 2008 Location Willow Creek, Oklahoma See more about '**BLACK PHANTOM SCEPTER - Quartz & Dichroic Tourmaline*' Description   ***Black Phantom Scepter*** ~~~ Quartz Crystal Masterpiece ~~~ ((( 3 Color Dichroic Black Tourmaline & Rutile ))) "Minas Gerias - Brazil" 5-3/4" inches tall x 3-1/2 " x 3" inches wide ( Largest Tourmaline = 3-1/8" x 3/4 - Longest = 3-1/4" x 1/2" inches  ) 2.25 Lbs - 1020 Grams Believe it or not this massive quartz crystal is relatively clear inside but is so heavily included with black tourmaline and rutile that indoors or out of the sunlight it looks almost totally black.  The three backside surfaces are absolutely littered with sticks of black tourmaline and rutile strewn like a rough carpet of twigs stuck on a window pane, and additionally feature good size black tourmaline penetrators sticking out emerging from within the quartz.   The lower portions of the crystal are naturally sculpted, indented and beveled with castle styling in two parts and the crystal is actually a huge scepter!  A true scepter is a primary crystal that completely overgrows the shaft of another smaller crystal.  A reverse scepter is a smaller terminated crystal protruding from a larger shaft and a double terminated scepter is both a scepter and a reverse scepter.  This massive handful is a phenomenal double reverse scepter with a huge single six sided termination on top and multi directional castle style terminations at the split lower sections and on the bottom. The three frontside termination faces are fairly clean and mirror finished with only a smattering of tourmaline and rutile attached on the surface planes.  The largest face is a phenomenal seven sided wonder with an extraordinary group of glassy phantoms etched just beneath the surface lined up top to bottom meandering like mountain peaks on a hazy celestial horizon.  The termination point is an exercise in razor sharp perfection, the ridge lines between the totally natural faces have a few minor dings with small blister spots as shown but are barely noticable in hand.  The clear faces also provide a spectacular view of the abstract Picasso like work of artful tourmaline and rutile going in every direction, suspended dramatically in a frozen epoch of time. A mass of black tourmaline with secondary dichroic blue green coloration inside take up most of the frontside prismatic quartz faces.  These beautifully formed partial quartz faces also provide clear windows to the masterpiece inside and are deeply engraved with horizontal timelines on the glassy exterior surfaces. The crystal has more tourmaline than I can accurately count but the large primary mass consists of roughly eighteen huge crystals measuring approximately three inches each sitting at a slight horizontal angle taking up virtually the whole frontside like a massive black log jam.  Most of the exposed tourmaline are ultra rare 3 color dichroic crystals with a glassy blue to green translucence that shows through colorfully accenting the pock marked crusty thin outer shells of the massive black schorl logs and there's haystack needles of tiny black tourmaline deposited in the cracks and crevices betwixt and between.  This massive log jam is topped off with a huge deeply striated double terminated classic black schorl 3-1/8" inch monster tourmaline angling majestically skyward completing the dramatic presentation of this crystalline masterpiece.   ( Collected in 1974 - Photographed in Natural Sunlight ) To maximize photos click supersize in the top left slide show panel, click maximize, then click the center top right box for full screen display.          Powered by eBay Turbo Lister Place a Bid!
