The Unit is designed to be used in Tri -Tac and other tactical communication systems. The DDP allows direct connection of a data terminal or facsimile without requiring an additional data adaptor. The DNVT possesses the following features: operation over CDP network interfaces; digital loop signalling/supervision; digital data port interfaces; operation at 16 or 32 kbits/s and CVSD modulation. It operates in a point-to point mode and used H-250 or H-350 handsets. The DNVT data interface permits the attachment of standard digital data terminals to the telecommununications network. The interface supports the fielded Single Subscriber Terminal (SST) and the lightweight digital facsimile, and is also used to attach an Extension Telephone Network (ETN). The terminal is optionally available with a four-to-two wire interface in a secure voice version and with EUROCOM line signalling capabilities.
