13" SANTA CLAUS CHRISTMAS FIGURE GERMAN 1940s VINTAGE Start Price USD 450.00 Current Price USD 450.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Sunday, August 17, 2008 End Time Sunday, August 24, 2008 Location Arizona See more about '13" SANTA CLAUS CHRISTMAS FIGURE GERMAN 1940s VINTAGE' Description   German Christmas Toy Santa Claus Figurine  The Santa is made of Paper Mache and is handpainted.  He has a beard of bunny fur.  The Santa wears a coat of red felting cloth with white trim.  There is a rope tied around his waist.  His legs are painted a royal blue, and his boots are black with snow around the edge.  Due to the size of the boots, Santa stands very sturdy.  Santa comes apart in the middle.  The bottom half is hollow.  It reminds me of a candy container.  In one hand Santa carries a feather tree with many glass ball ornaments, and mushrooms at the bottom of the tree.   In his other hand he carries a sack filled with old Erzgebirge Toys (small wooden sheep, dog, 2 trees, and a shepherd).  The old wooden toys were hand made in the Ore-Mountains (Erzgebirge) in Germany.  Santa measures approximately 13 1/4 " high, and 5" at the widest.  I purchased him several years ago from a reputable seller in Germany.  Although I do not know the exact age,  at the time of purchase I was told he was from the 1940's or older.  The figurine is in beautiful condition.  The only damage I could find is on the coat sleeve.  It is a pin point hole.  I have taken a picture of this area.  Please view the photos as they are part of my description.  This Santa comes from my personal Santa Collection.  He has always been stored in a smoke free enviroment.
