mctiques Store Recently found here in Maine. An old circa 1870 stereoview of the US Ironclad stationed in the Severn River near the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. USS Tonawanda, a 3400-ton twin-turret monitor built at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was commissioned in October 1865. She was laid up at the Washington Navy Yard, D.C., between late 1865 and October 1866, then became a training ship at the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland. In June 1869 she was renamed Amphitrite. The monitor's Naval Academy tour ended in 1872. Card measures 3.5" x 7". No maker listed. Good condition with slight cupping. A nice early image of one the Ironclads. Guaranteed authentic and just as described. Buyer pays actual S/I which will be our cost Priority Mail for most items.
