Description
description | condition | payment | shipping | returns checkpoint auction outlet presents 1930s Vintage Stanley Bullnose Rabbet Plane No. 90A - Made in USA Presented by checkpoint auction outlet, up for bidding is a 1930s Vintage Stanley Bullnose Rabbet Plane No. 90A. According to Supertool.com, this model of plane was manufactured starting in 1937 and continued through 1943. This is a cabinet maker's tool, a bullnose rabbet plane. With its introduction just prior to the war and the subsequent materials shortages, very few of these planes were made. As a result, it ends up being one of the rarest of Stanley planes for collectors. Brown's Antique Tool Auctions has identified only 3 of this model to have ever some up for live auction. This model is made of nickel-plated cast iron. The cap iron, which also serves as the handle, is marked "Stanley" and "Made in USA" on the upper surface. The underside is marked "C 1360." The depth adjustment knob is marked "No. 90A". The cutting iron is marked: StanleyMade in USA90A The sole measures 315/16 inches by 11/16 inches, and the tool stands 21/4 inches high. Some of the nickel plating has been worn away, most notably on the handle portion of the cap iron. Some of the nickel has worn away on the body of the plane. The cap iron still holds at least 60% of the nickel; the plane body holds about 90%. There is no rust. There are some surface scratches. The iron's cutting edge shows almost no evidence of sharpening or grinding. The sole is smooth, with some surface scratches, and some loss of nickel plating at the extreme edges. This piece would be an excellent centerpiece of any Stanley collection. enlarge Payment: We prefer payment through Pay with your credit card through Paypal. Money orders and cashiers checks also accepted. Personal checks accepted as well, although shipping will wait until the check clears. Payment must be received within 7 days of the close of auction or the auction will be revoked. If you are using Paypal, but not using a credit card, please send me an email before checking out to discuss a possible discount. Shipping: Buyer will pay $9.75 plus insurance for shipping and handling in the continental U.S. Bids from other countries are welcome. Feel free to email for a shipping quote. Domestic orders will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail, with full-value insurance required. FedEx Express delivery is also available. Please wait for eBay invoice. Shipping to other countries will only be done with full-value insurance. Final cost will depend on the final bid price. Returns: All items are sold "as-described", which is hopefully less hard-line than "as-is". We will accept returns if the item was not as described in the auction. Buyer must return the item within 10 days; buyer is responsible for return shipping charges. We do our best to present accurate, detailed information about every item we sell. If you have any questions, please email us before placing your bid.
