Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This unused vintage European hemp/linen grain sack dates from the early 1900’s.  We are general line antique dealers and found these beautiful antique bags while buying in Europe.  This one is 17¾” wide by 44” long, hand stitched down each side and across the top, made from a 88” long piece of hand-woven fabric.  It has a green center stripe and narrow red stripes on either side, with a narrow red stripe along one edge.  Most of the grainsacks we are selling, including this one, have stitched holes at the top corner, evidently for tying the top after filling.  I have seen a decorator tie the top of the grain sack in the same way to make a pillow after stuffing with an insert.   The fabrics vary a little in texture and shade, and some have storage stains, which I understand are easily washed out.  I use one as a table runner and have machine washed and dried it multiple times very successfully.   We are selling them in “as found” condition – they have never been used and have no wear at all unless otherwise noted.  Please be sure to check our other auctions for more great items, including more antique fabric bags.                                                                     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NO RESERVES ON OUR AUCTIONS!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   CHARLES PHILLIPS ANTIQUES & ARCHITECTURALS MOBILE, ALABAMA   Check out my other items!
