Description
This auction is for a unique revolving iron and its two fluting attatchments. I could not find a makers mark on this iron but I believe this is a John Hewitt patent revolving iron. If you go to Google patents and type in "Hewitt 5302" it will take you to the patent " IMPROVEMENT IN SAD AND FLUTING IRONS " , which I think fits the profile of this particular iron. There are no cracks or breaks on the iron or its attatchments but there is quite a bit of corrossion that has disrupted the surface coating a bit as seen in the photos. The latching and revolving mechanism works as it should but the engagement is a little weak and the iron will rotate without pressing it if you apply some pressure- it probably just needs a slight tweak to tighten it up but I will let the new owner do the honors. This iron can be packed in a USPS flat rate box for US and International shipping. US = 9.80 , Canada/Mexico = 23.95, International = 38.95 .On Dec-06-08 at 02:42:29 PST, seller added the following information: I have been informed by a knowledgeable source that the fluting attatchments may not be correct for this iron. They are most likely from a "Home Iron ". I concur with this information- There is nowhere for the clip to be attatched when the plate is installed- at first I thought that the clip may be acting as a stand but I believe I was incorrect in this assumption. I will let this auction run to the end with the iron and those attatchments. Please bid accordingly now knowing that the fluting attatchments you will receive with this iron are probably not correct to the piece.
