Offered here is an Antique Religious 25” Tall Gilded/Gold Plated Brass Solar Monstrance, hallmarked “Meneses”, believed to be from the palace of Suer Tellez of Meneses, a monastery in Toledo, Spain. Massive 25” tall monstrance features ornate hand cut sunbursts surrounding the 2.75“ diameter luna rim, accented with faceted glass jewels. Decorated with embossed and engraved detail including applied angel medallions and a cross on the top. This item was used in a Victorian Era Southern New Jersey Church. Hallmarked with an “M” and stamped “Meneses”. The palace of Suer Tellez of Meneses is a monastery in Toledo, Spain. This piece is believed to be from Spain and was definitely made prior to 1891. We welcome any information from knowledgeable collectors! This item came from a collection of items which came out of a Victorian Era Southern New Jersey Church. We are listing the collection on our other listings; save with combined shipping! The monstrance detaches from the stand and is adjusted by a set screw, which can be tightened using an allen wrench. There is a 1 1/8“ extension on the shaft, which can be removed for a shorter presentation. Item is in excellent condition with an excellent antique patina to gilded brass. Inside center is a bit off center but appears to be moveable. A few dings/dents with surface wear. A few edges of sunburst exhibit bends. Glass/luna holder are not present in center. Overal wear/tarnishing to gold plate. With extension in place, measures approximately 25" high and 13“ in diameter at widest. Base is 6 1/8“ in diameter. Center is 2.75” in diameter.
