Description
THIS AUCTION IS CONDUCTED IN POUNDS STERLING (£ GB) AND ALL PAYMENTS WILL BE IN THAT CURRENCY. WE ACCEPT VISA AND MASTERCARD AND IF PAYING WITH THESE, YOU WILL BE BILLED BY THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY IN YOUR LOCAL CURRENCY.An exceptionally RARE set of Archibald KNOX silver designed sugar tongs. These tongs were made by Liberty & Co., hallmarked in Birmingham in 1905. In addition to the full set of hallmarks, the are also stamped “CYMRIC” and have the pattern number “500/13”. These tongs are illustrated in “Archibald Knox“ by Stephen A. Martin. On page 202 in the lower illustration. (See photos) The tongs are completely free of damage or restoration. All the hallmarks are excellent and clear. Any silver by Knox is rare and highly sought after by collectors. This is doubly so if the piece is illustrated in a major reference work. The fact that the tongs are also stamped with the correct pattern number adds to this excellent provenance. The overall length of the tongs is 4.5 inches (115 mm) and they weigh just under 1 Troy ounce (30 gm).The buyer pays actual packing & postage costs. We will send via the cheapest possible means, with proof of delivery. For example, in the UK, this would be Insured Special Delivery. We are happy to accept Visa and MasterCard.
