Click Photo to Enlarge You are bidding on a Black Bakelite Kellogg Masterphone Mod. No. 1000 "Red Bar" Antique Art Deco Telephone in Good condition! This phone comes with an original vintage coiled handset cord and a new black, vinyl modular line cord. The line cord is tipped with a modern modular plug. It works and is ready to plug in and use today. The dialcenter has original paper stock with the Kellogg Griffen emblazoned on it, and an original vintage celluloid window. Its ready to plug in and be used today! This phone has not been painted by me or super-buffed. It is in original, as found condition, and its parts tested. The telephone has been disassembled, cleaned, repaired, tested and mildly polished. Click Photo to Enlarge The Kellogg "Red Bar" circuit began production in 1935 and was used by many independent telephone companies and businesses until the early 1960's. This telephone instrument's base is in excellent condition and the bakelite base shell is in fair condition with a couple of issues. There are few marks of its history which can be seen upon close inspection. One is a crack and chip in the back near the rear right foot which has been repaired and glued to be shored up and the other is a tiny, almost imperceptible surface hairline crack on the front left near the foot. Unfortunately most of these redbars end up getting cracked over time. I do not have any unblemished bakelite shells at this time to replace it with, so this is how I got it and how I am selling it. Both flaws are imperceptible except upon close examination. I have put in a photo of the crack and chip area but the surface crack did not photograph well, but is still noticeable upon close inspection. There are virtually imperceptible areas of the the handset which show some use as well however the handset does show its history. All other barely noticeable marks of its history are consistent with ordinary use. The handset is made of polymer plastics and bakelite and likewise is in good condition with the cracks mentioned and only a few marks of its history. Click Photo to Enlarge The interior of this phone is in excellent condition. The bells are brass and the biased straightline ringer functions superbly. The ringer which works well on modern telephone lines as a pair of two tone bells which ring (((((LOUDLY))))) and it sounds quite pleasant. The network is flawless. It too is in very good condition on the bottom and bears some marks of its history. This one is marked GD1000HA2 in silver over black.
