Click Photo to Enlarge You are bidding on a Black Antique Northern Electric Model 302, which dates to 1953. Northern Electric was the Western Electric counterpart in Canada, and was owned partly by the Bell System as part of its global operations. This telephone instrument works, comes complete with a new cloth covered handset cord, a new vinyl modern modular line cord and plug, and is ready to plug in and use today! Click Photo to Enlarge The interior of this phone is clean and shows some of its history. It has been carefully cleaned, and works perfectly. Note that it comes with a highly prized #5H dial that makes that famous clickity clack sound. It also comes with a unique unmarked F1 handset. I have never seen a Bell System handset that was not marked. See below. Click Photo to Enlarge This telephone is interesting in that it dates to 1953, including the dial plate and dial itself. The handset is unmarked and appears to have a matte finish and to me may have been painted by the phone company. The rest of the phone is unpainted and in original condition. Click Photo to Enlarge Click Photo to Enlarge The bottom of the base plate has some paint on it. The green stripe is a phone company stripe. The other white one seems to be paint splash. The brown felt feet are in fair to good condition and remain remarkably soft and pliable but do show some separations here and there around the inside edges. Click Photo to Enlarge The inside of the base shell is marked with its date of manufacture. And if you look at the inside of the handset, you will see it has no markings in the handle whatsoever which is strange for this kind of handset. Usually they are marked "Northern Electric" but this one is unmarked. Click Photo to Enlarge   The sleek, art deco lines of this telephone are undeniable. Its origins, dating to the original Western Electric version patented in 1937, and its Canadian counterpart patented in 1939, are evident in its design. My Favorite Bell System Ads.
