This quilt design is known as "Broken Star" and is a pieced quilt with extensive hand quilting.   Primary colors are red on a white background.  The quilt has burgundy binding on all four edges.  There are five shades of red fabric and one burgandy fabric.  Three edges are scalloped.   The edge for the pillow area is straight.  There is extensive handquilting in the pillow area.  Feathers have been handquilted in the corners (see picture).  The back is solid white and the stitching does show through.  There are some thread tails visible.  I left them attached because this is how I bought the quilt.  This allows you to better see how the work is done. This quilt is very big.  It measures 104-inches by 112-inches, so it is definitely a very large queen, but could be used on a king bed with a bed skirt.  It is pictured on a pillow top queen bed with four pillows and a short footboard.   Please email before bidding if you have any questions or want more pictures.  (HB543) There are still some pencil marks visible, but they will probably disappear after the first washing.  The Amish use pencils to mark the quilting templates so they know where to stitch.  The quilt is made of cotton and is machine washable in cool water.  The Amish recommend adding 1-cup vinegar to the first wash to set the colors.   Can be machine dried on low, but air drying is best.  However, you may prefer to have it dry cleaned.
