Fluorite beads are among the rarest of ancient American Indian made beads. They are called by some, "The Crown Jewels of Indian Beads". The mineral fluorite is only found in a few known areas. The discovery site is near one known site. Fluorite is a well known luminescent mineral and will fluoresce purple to blue under ultra violet light. Some specimens are thermal luminescent and glow when heated. These were sent to J.C. Floming of ArrowheadsPlus for authentication. It is his opinion these are Fluorite Beads dating to the Woodland period about 1600 BP. A copy of the certificate comes with the beads. An independent mineralogist confirmed beads are fluorite . The bead suspended from the chain was cleaned in white vinegar to determine the mineral the beads were made from. When tested under ultra violet light it fluoresces blue to purple. Estimated value, $95 to $120 each. Condition: See photo photo to confirm your opinion of the items condition Beads are made from ground fluorite. They display a patina and calcite deposits that will leave no doubt about authenticity. Great addition to any authentic Indian made bead collection.
