Description
A beautiful limited-edition Apple Bowl commissioned and signed by artist Andrew Wyeth, crafted in Bone China by Royal Doulton of Staffordshire, England, and issued through The Franklin Mint. The Certificate of Authenticity, dated June 30, 1973, and accompanying slip-cover tells how it all came about, including the inspired Wyeth artwork and the selection of Royal Doulton's craftsmen. The finished product speaks for itself by way of design and quality workmanship. But amateur photography doesn't do it justice, although the final close-up hints at the subtle hues of green, lavender, blue, plum, and tan. Doulton's experts worked hard and long to match "each gradation and shade of 'The Wyeth Bowl' to the artist's exacting specifications - always striving for absolute fidelity to the delicate tonal values of Wyeth's palette." This specimen has never been used, according to its former owner. In fact, it has been stored not only in its original padded case but also in the original shipping carton. Naturally, its condition is pristine and its credentials impeccable. The bowl is 12.75 inches in diameter and stands 5.5 inches high. It gives a resonant bell-like tone when tapped with one's fingernail. I believe you'll find it an excellent marriage of form and function, whether in elegant dining or artistic display.
