Description
Untitled1 Presents... Antique 1830's Iron Slave Shackles, Locks Tags, Lafar Here we have an interesting collection that should probably belong in a museum. The collection includes two locks, two shackles, two keys, and two Charleston slave tags. We will start with the first pictured that includes the hand forged twisted iron shackles. They are 100% original and date from the 19th century. The lock and key also are genuine and I guarantee that they are real and authentic. They have a very unusual design with twisted iron. The lock also is 100% original and dates to the 19th century. Attached to the key is a Charleston slave tag. It appears to be brass and is marked Lafar January 5th 1833 Charleston 1833 Servant 350. The tag itself has certain age. This is interesting as many slave tags were made from copper. This will certainly prove to be an interesting research piece. The second set of shackles with lock also is forged iron. It also has a key and tag attached that is copper and reads Charleston 679 Porter 1824. The lock key and shackles all are hand forged and original. They also date to the 19th century. These items were purchased from an estate sale in the Manheim, PA are years ago. I have no way to authenticate the tags but can say that the iron shackles are not reproductions and are original. The twisted forged iron shackles are especially important. I am offering this lot because I do not have the time or resources to further investigate the origins of these items. I have taken many pictures to show the condition and show you the authenticity of these items. If you have any further questions please ask prior to bidding.
