C. Coleman, who began selling lamps in 1900 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma and moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1902.  The main plant still exists in Wichita, Kansas.   Coleman No. 5 Green Enamel Gasoline Iron   According to Carol and Jimmy Walker's research on the history of the Coleman Company, the Model 5 was made between 1930 and 1932 and was the VERY LAST of the torch-lighting non-pressurized Coleman irons.  This example, which features the elongated ball-shaped nickel (OVER BRASS) plated tank, is in WONDERFUL condition.  According to the Antique Iron experts (Larry & Carol Meeker...check their website) "Perhaps the best known and most commonly found or offered for sale of this style of iron is the blue enamel Coleman gasoline iron.  Blue is by far the most commonly seen color, but Coleman also made irons in many other colors that are more desirable---turquoise, red, green, tan, etc" In 20+ years of collecting irons (among other things!) we have NEVER....EVER come across a Coleman No. 5 enamel GREEN iron.  The color is Crisp...the handle is EXCELLENT...the brass makers plaque is EXCELLENT...just a BEAUTIFUL example!  Measures 10 3/4" long, 6 1/2" tall, & just over 3 1/2" wide.   These old (RARE) irons are going up in value with EVERY passing year.  EXCELLENT Collectible would be a wonderful stand alone display piece in any kitchen vintage decor.....hearth.....etc. We are Nafe' Iron Works, & we specialize in Custom Decor.
