Description
Authentic Japanese Style Bugei Dragonfly Katana and Wakizashi Daisho Excellent gift idea just in time for Christmas! The Bugei retail store is already sold out of these !! We know you have had your eye on this, so don't let time run out The Outside Indoors Exhibition Company, OIEC, is liquidating some inventory to make room for another art gallery and this Daisho was a exhibit piece used in my showroom. Since I no longer have a use for this Daisho I am offering it to the world I have enjoyed these swords but the time has come for someone else to care for and enjoy them. The Bugei Dragonfly Katana and Wakizashi are world famous for their beauty, functionality and flawless manufacturing. These are not wall hangers, they are not stamped out from stainless steel blanks, and they are not put together using glues and plastic parts. These swords are made using real sword steel and authentic yet traditional metal and wood fittings. They are sharp, heavy and if not properly used, dangerous. The price and value of these popular swords have increased in recent years and even if you can afford the retail price, the wait list can be 6 months to a year or more. The important thing to understand is these swords are perfect. The are the ‘bar’ and standard by which many other Japenese swords are compared to. It is possible to buy a better sword (“better” meaning more ornate and not necessarily stronger or superior) by hiring a sword smith to make a custom blade and fittings for you, but realistically you would have to expect to pay many thousands of dollars, not to mention the wait list of many years. Once in a while a rare opportuity comes along like his one. No waiting and no worrying about quality. This is your chance to own the Dragonfly Daisho in prestine condition shipped immediately to you upon payment. This is an exciting opportunity for any sword enthusiast, whether an expert or a novice, to own the Dragonfly Daisho in perfect condition. These swords are stunning works of art! Daisho def: (大小, daishō?),"big and small", Japanese term referring to the traditional weapons of the samurai. A pair of matcing swords, one long and one small. Katana: long sword Wakizashi: short sword The short description: Katana blade length: 28.5 inches, handle length: 12 inches, saya length: 30 inches, overall length: 42.5 inches. Wakizashi blade length: 21 inches, handle length: 7 inches, saya length: 22.5 inches, overall length: 29.5 inches Neither sword has bo-hi which I believe gives them increased strength and aesthetic beauty (bo-hi commonly but erroneously referred to as the ‘blood grove’ is done to decrease the weight of the blade but it also can slightly decrease is resilience and strength). Now for the detailed description: Both blades are individually hand forged and folded using Swedish Powdered Steel (the purest form of steel known to exist), then differentially clay fired and heat treated a second time in the traditional manner. The blade has a visible grain pattern and edge. The fittings are authentic bone, iron, copper and brass. The Tsuba is pierced with a dragonfly design, the handle features black same and the Tsuka-ito is brown silk. The Katana blade is held in place with two mekugi pins and the Wakizashi with one. Both swords are adorned with two menuki brass dragonfly ornaments and come with their own glossy black lacquered solid wood saya (sword sheath) with brown silk Sageo. Even if you do not understand the Japanese philosophy of sword making or the words used to describe the different parts of these swords, that’s O.K. because this offer is genuine. If you have been searching for real Japanese swords then give my offer some serious thought. This Daisho is in perfect condition. They have never been used for cutting or practice. The blades are impeccable, clean and oiled. The handle wrapping is soft pure silk. This Daisho was used as a display centerpiece kept in a temperature controlled environment. Your purchase includes two custom cleaning kits and shipping containers Each sword comes with its own custom cleaning kit in a wooden box. Kits include Uchiko powder, choji (clover) oil, Large Washi (rice paper for cleaning), oiled cloth in plastic box, and a large brass hammer. One kit I have used to periodically clean and oil the blades as part of their maintenance. The other kit has never been used and its contents never opened. These swords come sheathed in their own soft black polyester shirasaya bags and are packaged in their original foam-formed cutouts and shipping boxes. They also come with all original documentation, instructions and guarantees. I have given thought on how to sell these swords and could have easily used the BUY NOW option, however, anybody who understands what I am selling would immediately purchase them, never giving anyone else a chance, and I feel that would be unfair. I would rather put these items up for a five day auction giving everyone an equal opportunity to browse them. The sword stand is not intended to be included because it’s just a cheap one that I made, however, if you really, really would like it I will throw it in for free. I will ship using UPS next day air with full insurance coverage and tracking status numbers to ensure you receive your purchase as soon as possible. Please ensure that the shipping address is accurate and dependable. You will likely have to sign for the packages when they arrive. For this reason I would prefer a previously verified shipping address. I do not want to be responsible for these swords not arriving to the purchaser because of some silly error with the shipping destination. I will ship and notify you as soon as I receive payment in full. I am not an unreasonable man and will accept returns or refunds if absolutely necessary- but I will need a good explanation. I am at a disadvantage as the seller regarding returns and refunds and would prefer to avoid them. Remember: These swords are weapons and if not properly used they are dangerous. It is the buyer’s responsibility to understand and use them correctly. As per our contract, I will no longer be responsible or accountable for these swords once they are in the buyer’s possession. The buyer will be the new legal guardian of these works of art. Please note: If the winning bidder is local they may pick up these items directly from my residence Email me any questions or comments you have, I would love to hear from you and will respond promptly. twigbang@gmail.com
