Dan Leno (real name George Wild Galvin), was born on December 20th 1860, and died October 31st 1904.   He was perhaps the most famous music hall artist of his day whose act typically revolved around London Cockney humour and dressing up as a pantomime dame.   This photo, by Edward Sharpe Photographs, Islington, London is signed by Dan Leno:- On the top:- “Sincerly Yours Dan Leno May 17/93” At the bottom:- “Drury Lane Panto” The photo is of stiff card manufacture, and is in good condition for its age. Although faded as can be seen from the photo, every detail is clearly discernable.   The photo has been stuck into an album at some time, as photo shows, but this hardly detracts from the item.
